Kids and birds are the best.

My Little Chicks classes have started up this week and I am SO excited to be doing them again! I'm realizing now that this is my last time doing them, which is a really odd feeling, the program is my baby and we are just starting to see some real enrollment success. Gotta really enjoy this session!

THIS IS IT. IT'S HAPPENING!

In case you can't read this, this is a printed copy of the email Andrew received today from WSU letting him know he has been offered a slot in the Class of 2019 veterinary program!! THIS IS REAL LIFE.

I've cried happily today and we have been talking about it nonstop. It's neat and weird that this phase of life will finally be happening. We've been talking about it and planning for it for so long, and after so much hard work Andrew totally earned it. I am so immensely proud of him, and excited for the adventures and challenges the next four years of this chapter will bring.

Roman is balding. And fat.

Our magical cat had to go to the vet when we got home from NYC because her face looked like this:

Thank goodness our vet office was open on New Years Eve. I spent an evening with hypochondriac itching and worries of mites or fleas, and thankfully we learned that it's just some sort of an allergic skin reaction, probably to our Christmas tree that Roman loves so very much. The red spots are self-caused by scratching itches and were quickly treated by a steroid shot and our promise to get rid of the tree asap.

Unfortunately she is also almost 15 lbs (which is the current weight of the Aviary's golden eagle), so she is being relegated to a kitty weight loss plan. I think she likes being a BBC, but she also seems to like her new weight loss cat food just as much, and in the interest of supporting her in her apparent goals of immortality, it seems like the best course of action.

A Jaunt to New York City

Andrew and I had the most incredible weekend in New York this past week! It was three action-packed days of plays and wonderful company and fabulous food and warmer weather than we had at home, it really couldn't have been better. Rather than present a wall of text, pictures will tell a better story!
